Kahea Hart came from the back roads of Waimanalo and windy waves of Sandy Beach. As a teen he dreamed of being a pro surfer. While in high school at Punahou he competed in the Hawaii circuits NSSA and HPAC. After High school he moved to the North shore to follow his dream. While working at Ted’s Bakery his dreams came to light and Kahea received his first professional contract. Most of his career was free surfing and photo trips. During this time Kahea did his own cross training to prepare for Hawaii’s winter seasons. Then 1998 he tore his right ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) while surfing Backdoor. After reconstructive surgery, rehab was a long 6 months of hard work and discipline. In that time he met personal trainer Rob Garcia. They worked on proper core stability, balance, strength training and yoga. One year after surgery he went on to win the Faith Sunset Pro and second place at Da Hui’s Sunset Shoot Out. The work out of the water had paid off! After surfing five years for Hurley they asked him to be the team manager and coach for their junior team in Hawaii. Kahea saw this as an opportunity to give back to the sport of surfing that had taken him around the world and given him a beautiful home on the North Shore. As coach and mentor for Hurley’s Team he used an approach life lessons, fitness and coaching. From Kahea’s experience as an athlete he knows fitness, diet, competition and positive mental attitude are what it takes to build a champion. He strives to develop a better healthier person, not just a surfer. Kahea is currently certified as a personal trainer through N.A.S.M. (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and is available for personal training wether it’s for weight loss or competition preparation He is also the assistant coach/trainer for Verizon Wireless Hawaii Junior Surf Team
